Let's just say that I'm happy to have never majorly injured myself doing CrossFit. Being intentional in how I move, as well as, setting an example for good movement have always been my strength.

Coach
My story of becoming a coach is a long one that has led me to being the oldest I've ever been, but also the most fit. All through childhood and my teenage years, I was, let's say husky, bulky, bigger kid. I would constantly fight my weight and the insecurity of not looking the way I wanted to. As I continued to grow and mature, the insecurity turned into not feeling well. Health became a priority and bettering myself became a must. CrossFit has allowed this to happen for over 15 years now. I first started CrossFit Feb. of 2009 and never looked back. I loved it so much that I felt I wanted to pay it forward by becoming a coach. In 2010 I received my L1 in CrossFit. 5 years later I earned my L2 certification and 15 years later, I continue to coach and feel privileged to be a part of anyone's fitness journey.
An enemy of mine, that I know a lot of people can relate to, is myself. Constantly fighting the battle of, "I need to be better", "I need to be stronger", "You are not good at this..." and so on, play on repeat in my head. Just like any hero's journey, those thoughts I fight to keep out of my heart. I'm happy to say that I've been able to keep them out for years. Being comfortable in one's skin is very integral to my fitness success. This has led to me working on the person, from the inside out. Constant battles between the Head and the Heart are where I feel I can shine.
I feel my purpose to Coach is to help others understand themselves on a level they have never known. Whether that is working with college students every day as an Academic Life Coach or tangentially helping people reach their fitness goals at Koda CrossFit, this is my calling. There is a fire inside us all! I want to bring out your Fire-Breather mindset. What an honor to have the opportunity to do so.
