Toby was born and raised in Ravenswood, West Virginia, where he developed an early passion for health and human performance. He went on to earn a degree in Exercise Physiology with an emphasis in Aquatic Therapy and later completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, both from West Virginia University.
During a physical therapy rotation in 2013, Toby discovered CrossFit and was immediately hooked. What started as a personal pursuit quickly grew into a professional calling. In 2015, he moved to Oklahoma to practice physical therapy but soon realized his true passion was in coaching. He transitioned into CrossFit full-time, eventually becoming the manager of Koda CrossFit Norman. In March 2019, he embraced the opportunity to become co-owner of the gym, calling it the best job of his life.
One of Toby’s favorite parts of coaching is leading Koda Longevity, a program he founded in 2017 for athletes ages 55 and older. Helping members improve their health, reach their fitness goals, and do the things they love every day is at the heart of his coaching philosophy.
As an athlete, Toby has been competing in the sport of CrossFit for over 10 years. He has won numerous individual events and competed on multiple high-level teams, including those that qualified for the CrossFit Games in 2021 and 2022.
Outside the gym, Toby is married to his best friend, Karlee. Together, they share their lives with their three dogs: Marty, Lloyd, and Graham. They are excitedly expecting their first child in October 2025.
